Common Tactics Employed by Deceptive Dealers

Some of the more dishonest folks in the automotive industry have been known to use a few tricks to deceive customers. These tactics are used to get a customer into the showroom under false pretenses.  The belief is that, once the customer is in the showroom, they won't leave, and the salesperson can flip them into another vehicle.  Listed here are a few common underhanded tactics that you'll never encounter here at our dealership:

• Advertising for Vehicles That Aren't in-Stock

Some dealers like to entice buyers by advertising amazing prices on cars they don't actually have. So, when you go to check it out, it's not there, and you end up getting roped into something else far more expensive.

• Hiding Secrets in the Fine Print

Some dealers will advertise a fantastic price on a car to get your attention. It's not until to start digging into the fine print that you find that there's a catch like you need to put cash down or make a trade to get anywhere near the price that they advertise.

• Applying Non-Applicable Rebates

Sometimes other dealerships will apply rebates or incentives that are not applicable to all consumers.  They will stack rebates and incentives that can't actually be used in conjunction with the advertised deal.

• Failure to Be Transparent About the Final Cost

A lot of dealers like to leave out typical costs that accompany buying a car, such as the destination charge. All cars have them, yet many dealers fail to factor these costs into the final price of a vehicle until the last minute when they like to surprise customers with them.
